An avid photographer and advocate for Inclusion BC, Greta Cooper was on the path to retirement. As she planned for this next chapter, her life took a sideways turn in 2016 when she was involved in a motor vehicle accident.

She suffered a serious concussion with persistent symptoms. She wasn’t able to return to work or continue her volunteering. She grieved the loss of many things in her life as a result of this “invisible injury”.

With the unwavering support of her loving family, Greta has returned to daily life with her “go-getter” spirit. Getting back into the activities she loved helped her move through the sadness she felt around her brain injury. She now looks forward to thinking about what’s next. Greta wants to share her story with others who may be going through the same struggles.

The BC Brain Injury Association (BCBIA) has produced a short video documentary in partnership with WorkSafe BC about Greta’s journey through concussion recovery. We are deeply grateful to Greta and her family for sharing their story with us.

Visit our Concussion page for more information about concussions. You can also find a list of concussion focused supports and services on our Resource page.
