Aphasia is the impairment of language caused by a brain injury, affecting the production and comprehension of speech, as well as the ability to read or write. Founded by Columbia Speech & Language Services, the Surrey Aphasia Group is a program where adults living aphasia can practice their communication skills in a supported environment. Coordinated by trained speech language pathologists, volunteers support clients in gaining confidence in their communication and conversation skills. The program is sponsored by Fraser Health Authority.
