Tribute to Michael Rossiter

Michael RossiterThe Brain Injury Community is extremely saddened by the passing of Michael (Mike) Rossiter on November 23, 2022.

The one thing you could not do when you were with Mike was keep a frown on your face. Mike, dubbed “The Happy Fellow” by his wife, Mary Lou, was always smiling, and he made it his personal mission to make people smile and laugh right alongside him.

Although Mike was born and raised in Vancouver, he moved to Terrace with his young family, where he operated Totem Press with his partners. Mike also invested time into his community. In Terrace, he served on the Terrace City Council and on the board for Terraceview Lodge, as well as other local organizations.

When Mike returned to the lower mainland, he opened his business, Michael Rossiter Graphic Design. He also joined the brain injury community and served on the BC Brain Injury Association Board of Directors as a family member and became publisher of Headline Magazine for over fifteen years.

Mike was an avid advocate in the brain injury community and acutely aware that services needed to be available province wide. His deepest wish was that families and survivors would one day have a 24/7 call center to access support when they needed it, which is often outside of regular business hours.

After retiring, Mike and his beloved wife, Mary Lou, enjoyed traveling, spending time with their family and friends, and supporting their community of Steveston. Mike also discovered a passion for watercolour painting. You can view Mike’s work here and also on the Facebook page of Men in Hats. Mike was also a member of the Richmond Artists Guild.

Mike will be deeply missed, primarily, by his loving wife, Mary Lou, his children, Wendy, Blake, Shane (Aileen), Sean (Francesca), his grandchildren Miriam (Michael), Marielle (Kieran), Cooper, and Ronin, as well as his extended family and many, many friends.
