The Sexual Health Rehabilitation Service can help people with a disability and/or their partners, in the sexual/relationship area of their life. In a private appointment, you can ask questions, get information, and address sexual health concerns.

Common Questions or Worries People May Have…

• How do I manage changes to my bowel/bladder that stop me from feeling sexy?
• How do I talk to my partner or future partner about the sexual part of my life?
• The way my body works for sex has changed, what can I do about it?
• How do I bring back the romantic feelings in my relationship?

After becoming a caregiver for her husband who had a stroke, we had one woman share her story of how this changed their relationship:

“…The impact of this stroke on our sexual relationship was devastating. We were never offered any counselling nor did we seek any at the time. The immediate goal was rehabilitation and regaining basic function, not having sex. Having sex or achieving any intimacy gets puts on the back burner until such time that any intimacy becomes a remote memory. The spousal anger & resentment resulting from such sudden physical illness which impacts all aspects of life results in the spouse going into a survivor mode of dealing with day to day responsibilities as well as becoming a caregiver.”
