Stroke recovery support groups are a valuable opportunity for stroke survivors and their loved ones to share experiences and gain peer support in a safe and relaxed atmosphere.
The group meets every Fridays (except statutory holidays and the month of August). Physical exercise and/or yoga is provided on a weekly basis. On a monthly basis, small group speech therapy is provided by a Registered Speech Language Pathologist, who also engages the group in cognitive and communication exercises. Each month the Richmond Singers lead the group in a group sing-a-long, often accompanied by musical instruments for added enjoyment.
Bring a bag lunch. Coffee, tea and cookies are provided (donation requested).
Guest speakers are occasionally invited to address the group on topics of interest to members and, from time to time, they meet at a local restaurant, where they enjoy great food and friendship with peers.
