Video Series Part 2 – Motor Vehicle Brain Injury

Navigating Your Recovery Journey

Part 2: Treatment Provider Options

What is this video about?

The BC Brain Injury Association (BCBIA) has created a series of short videos (6-11 minutes each) that highlight scenarios that we think are important for individuals and families to have information about, as they navigate ICBC’s Accident Benefit Coverage system.

When ICBC introduced changes to its Accident Benefits Coverage in April, 2019, we knew that many people would have questions, particularly if they had suffered a brain injury as a result of a motor vehicle accident.  We started out by creating a series of blog posts intended to help provide information to our stakeholders about the claims process.

The entire video series contains some information specific to the ICBC changes (especially the first video), but much of it is also relevant to all brain injury survivors, as we cover important topics such as this one here.

This second video describes the wide range of treatment provider options (some covered by ICBC and some not) and features interviews with an ICBC representative, the CEO of the Physiotherapy Association of BC, a chiropractor, an occupational therapist and a BCBIA board member.

What questions does this video answer?

  • What are my options for pre-approved treatment?
  • How do I find an Allied Health professional?
  • Will ICBC cover other types of treatment?

What should I do after watching this video?

Your feedback and questions are important to us! If you found this video helpful or there are any questions you would like to see answered that may help others navigate the new changes as well, please leave a comment through our contact form.

Make sure you also review ICBC’s website in addition to this post. It also includes information about additional changes for Enhanced Care that came into effect in May, 2021.
