SUMMARY:Connecting the Dots: Brain Injury and Concurrent Disorders in BC
DESCRIPTION:Join us online to explore how brain injuries and concurrent disorders connect in BC’s mental health scene. \n\n\n\nWe are pleased to welcome Dr. Daniel Vigo\, British Columbia’s Chief Scientific Advisor for Psychiatry\, Toxic Drugs\, and Concurrent Disorders\, for a virtual discussion with leaders and community members from across the brain injury sector. \n\n\n\nReserve a spot here(Zoom link will be shared with confirmed attendees on June 8) \n\n\n\nPlease note this session will not be recorded. We encourage you to attend live to take part in the discussion. \n\n\n\nAppointed by David Eby\, Dr. Vigo plays a key role in strengthening the province’s response to complex and overlapping challenges in mental health\, substance use\, and neurological conditions. \n\n\n\nThis session will explore Dr. Vigo’s approach to improving care for individuals experiencing severe mental illness\, substance use\, and acquired brain injury\, with a focus on how data\, evidence\, and lived experience are shaping current and emerging policy directions in British Columbia. \n\n\n\nParticipants will gain insight into: \n\n\n\n\nHow provincial strategies are addressing the intersection of brain injury\, mental health\, and toxic drug exposure\n\n\n\nKey priorities and considerations guiding system improvement efforts\n\n\n\nOpportunities for alignment\, collaboration\, and more coordinated care pathways\n\n\n\n\nThe session will include a presentation followed by short\, moderated discussion. \n\n\n\nTo support a thoughtful and productive conversation\, participants are invited to submit questions in advance to executivedirector@bcbia.org by June 3\, 2026. These questions will be forwarded in advance to Dr. Vigo to help inform the discussion and ensure a range of perspectives are reflected. \n\n\n\nHeld during Brain Injury Awareness Month\, this event is part of a broader effort to strengthen understanding\, dialogue\, and coordination across sectors supporting individuals affected by brain injury in British Columbia. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to having you join us.
