Technology for Living

by

Technology for Living “We work with people with disabilities.”

Technology for Living (TFL) is dedicated to helping people in BC with limited movement, and physical disabilities reduce barriers to participation in their home and community.

Provincial Respiratory Outreach Program (PROP)

For over 20 years, PROP has supported individuals who require ventilatory assistance to move into and continue living independently in their communities. Our team of Respiratory Therapists provide equipment, supplies, education, and ongoing support both remotely and in the home, no matter where you are in BC. Our team of Biomeds keeps our equipment up-to-date, safe, and available for the over 700 members we serve across BC.

We have extensive experience facilitating transfers from hospitals, care facilities, and rehabilitation centers into the community. Members can rest assured there is individualized information and advice available day or night through our 24-hour, non-emergency, on-call service.

Peer Program

Peers utilize their lived experience with assistive technology in their homes and community to promote an inclusive environment for all. Our Peer Team facilitates connections between people with disabilities and relevant organizations in the community. By providing technical and community support, peers help peers overcome barriers and have an equal opportunity to maximize their independence.

Technology for Independent Living (TIL)

TIL provides, installs, and services assistive technologies and home automation devices for people with physical disabilities in British Columbia. For over 50 years, our biomeds and technicians have been working with members and their care teams (OTs, family members, friends, etc.) to develop a technology plan that will assist members living independently within their homes.

Youth Assistive Technoloby

Our services include the Youth Assistive Technology program, which provides services to individuals between the ages of 12 and 18. The Technology for Living YouTube channel features our WE TALK TECH series, where we speak with a rotating cast of guests from the community about how they use technology to live independently. The Automatic Door Opener Program assists individuals with high-level physical disabilities to access their home door when they cannot open or close it on their own.
